Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Specialist

Directional boring is used for installing infrastructure such as telecommunications and power cable conduits, water lines, sewer lines, gas lines, oil lines, product pipelines and environmental remediation casings. It is used for crossing waterways, roadways, shore approaches, congested areas, environmentally sensitive areas, and areas where other methods are costlier. It is used instead of other techniques to provide less traffic disruption, lower cost, deeper and/or longer installation, no access pit, shorter completion times, directional capabilities, and environmental safety.

The technique has extensive use in urban areas for developing subsurface utilities as it helps in avoiding extensive open cut trenches. The use however necessitates that the operator must have the complete information about the existing utilities so that he can plan his whole alignment to avoid damaging those utilities. Since uncontrolled drilling can lead to such damages different agencies/government authorities owning the urban 'right-of-way' or the utilities have formed their rules for safe work execution. For standardization of the techniques different trenchless technology promoting organizations have developed guidelines for this technique.

Residential Services

When you need to install a new service, or replace an existing service you have two primary options to do this job. One option would be to have a trench dug up and place the new service {water, electric, or cable, etc} or as a second option you could choose to have this service installed using Horizontal Direction Drilling (HDD). The second option will allow you to run multiple services at the same time if you choose to, this can be done with very little disturbance of your property. This process can run lengths of 50 feet to over several hundred feet with as little as two small ground openings, keeping your land surface undamaged unlike the trenching that would require the land to be disrupted for the entire distance you need to run the new or replacement service.

Horizontal Directional Drilling will also allow you to run these services under driveways, sidewalks, and other paved or concrete space with out the need to dig them up.

Commercial Services

Horizontal directional drilling (HDD) for commercial needs is beneficial in many ways. This process will allow utilities to be placed across large spans of roadway without the need to close it down to traffic. HDD allows for underground work to be placed much deeper, where conventional trenching could require the need to open a large and sometimes dangerous hole. Most of all, compared to trenching, HDD is much less disruptive to the surrounding areas while work is being completed.

Municipal Services

Horizontal directional drilling (HDD) for municipalities is a means to get a project done on schedule, within spec, and on budget, while keeping public complaints to an absolute minimum. This process will allow utilities to be placed across large spans of roadway without the need to close it down to traffic. HDD allows for underground work to be placed much deeper, where conventional trenching could require the need to open a large and sometimes dangerous whole. Most of all HDD will be much less disruptive to the surrounding areas while the work is being completed than with trenching.
