Directional Drilling
CSU is a leading horizontal directional drilling company in the Midwest region. With the most current trenchless equipment on the market we are able to determine depth, pitch, and yaw with pin point accuracy.
We are experienced in all types of soil conditions ranging from sand and clay to fragmented and solid rock formations. We are able to drill up to 56 inch diameter casing or carrier pipe. We are committed to maintaining in budget and on time projects, while satisfying landowners, environmental monitors, and public agencies.
Use of HDD is growing rapidly and is expected to continue to increase for the foreseeable future. Please let us know how we can serve you.
HDD Rock Drilling (Rock Boring)
Horizontal Directional Rock Drilling is a method of installing underground pipelines and conduits from the surface along a prescribed bore path through soft and/or hard rock. The process is successfully used for installing the following:
Telecommunications & Power Cable Conduits
Water Lines & Sewer Lines
Gas Lines & Oil Lines
Across Waterways & Roadways
Across Congested or Environmentally Sensitive Areas
Any Area Where Other Methods are More Expensive or Not Feasible
Vibratory Plowing
Vibratory Plowing involves using heavy machinery that plows or cuts a groove of the appropriate depth in the ground while simultaneously feeding a single cable into the groove. Vibratory plowing is a simple and effective way to bury just about any type of underground utility with very minimal damage to the surrounding areas.
CSU has a wide range of plows available to meet your needs. Please let us know how we can help you.
Hydro-Excavation
Hydro-Excavation is safe digging with high pressure water and vacuum, also known as soft digging, hydro vac, hydro trenching, safe digging, non destructive digging, potholing, day-lighting and vacuum excavation. The process is non destructive and can be used to excavate the following:
Energized Utility Lines
Buried Fiber
Phone Lines
Gas Lines
Water Lines
Sewer Lines
Hydro-Excavation is a non-mechanical and non-destructive process which combines pressurized water and a high flow of moving air to simultaneously excavate and evacuate native soils at a controlled rate. The soil and water slurry are conveyed via an 8″ vacuum tube to a truck-mounted debris tank. This process allows for quick, clean and precise excavations which require less backfill, less labor force, less restoration, less environmental impact than conventional digging methods, and most of all less overall project cost. A controlled flow water stream allows for surgeon-like accuracy removing only the material necessary for repair or inspection. Minimal material is removed when compared with the large, open cut excavation method.
Utilicor Coring
With Utili-Cor, we cut a plug, hydro excavate the existing utility, backfill with flow-able fill, and reinstall the plug using a high strength epoxy that comes with a guarantee. No patching and no potholes next spring. These hydro-excavated holes can be left open with a specially designed steel plate for prolonged access. Hydro excavation is made easy using our new Vactor 2100 with a boiler system for cold weather.
This process is guaranteed not to erode or pot hole next spring.
